March 16: Knife in the Water

Join us for Movie Nite at the Polish Club!

Polish Movie Nite is happy to present Knife in the Water (1962), Roman Polanski's first feature film. It depicts three characters - two young men and a woman - navigating charged rivalry and sexual tension. Krzysztof Komeda composed the soundtrack, which prominently features the Swedish jazz tenor saxophonist Bernt Rosengren. The film was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 1963 Academy Awards, and won the Golden Wolf at the Bucharest Film Festival in the same year.

The film will be introduced by Arden Sherman, a curator and writer based in San Francisco. Arden earned her MA in Curatorial Practice at the California College of the Arts, San Francisco, and her BA at the College of Charleston, South Carolina, where she studied sculpture and Latin American studies.
