September 30: Destination - Nowa Huta! and MDM

Join us for Movie Nite at the Polish Club!

Polish Movie Nite is happy to present two shorts this month. Destination - Nowa Huta! (1951) is a propaganda film by Andrzej Munk that promotes the building of the steelworks, located east of Krakow. This will be followed by our screening of MDM (2005), a documentary film by Warsaw-based filmmaker Eric Bednarski. The film illuminates the complex socio-political issues of 1950s Poland through the lens of urban planning. The screening will be preceded by an introduction by Joseph Becker, Assistant Curator of Architecture and Design at SFMOMA.
